Seit 1991 fahren regelmäßig Delegationen von Jugendgruppen in den Partner-Landkreis Mateh Yehuda. Seit 1997 besteht die offizielle Partnerschaft zwischen den beiden Landkreisen Würzburg und Mateh Yehuda. Das DHG nimmt an diesem Programm seit 2003 teil. 2012 kam das Gymnasium Veitshöchheim hinzu. Seither fahren Jugendliche der beiden Landkreis-Gymnasien regelmäßig für einen Zeitraum von 10-12 Tagen in die Partnerregion, die vor den Toren von Jerusalem liegt und sich weit nach Westen bis kurz vor Tel Aviv erstreckt. Die Partnerschule En Karem High-School liegt nicht weit vom großen neu gebauten Klinikum von Jerusalem entfernt. Ursprünglich hatte diese Einrichtung einen landwirtschaftlichen Schwerpunkt, der heute jedoch etwas zu Gunsten der eher akademischen Fächer zurückgefahren wurde. Dennoch sieht man die landwirtschaftliche Ausrichtung noch immer in Flächen rund um die Schule. Dort werden sehr viel Obst und Gemüse, sowie Wein und diverse andere Dinge angebaut. Auch Tierhaltung gab es früher, davon ist jedoch nur noch wenig übriggeblieben, z.B. in Form von Geflügelhaltung. Die Schülerinnen und Schüler der High-School haben heute immer noch Unterricht in Landwirtschaft und müssen auch regelmäßig in den Gewächshäusern und auf den Feldern mitanpacken.
Der Austausch findet traditionell im Zwei-Jahresrhythmus statt, d.h. nach einem Besuch der deutschen Jugendlichen im Jahr 2023 wird es einen Gegenbesuch im Jahr 2024 von den israelischen Jugendlichen geben.
Since 1991, regular delegations of youth groups have been traveling to the partner district of Mateh Yehuda. The official partnership between the two districts of Würzburg and Mateh Yehuda has existed since 1997. The Deutschhaus-Gymnasium (DHG) has been participating in this program since 2003. In 2012, the Gymnasium Veitshöchheim also joined the program. Since then, students from both district high schools regularly travel to the partner region, which lies just outside Jerusalem and stretches westward towards Tel Aviv. The partner school, En Karem High-School, is located not far from the large newly built hospital of Jerusalem. Originally, this institution had an agricultural focus, but today, it has shifted more towards academic subjects. However, the agricultural orientation is still visible in the areas surrounding the school, where various fruits, vegetables, wine, and other products are cultivated. While animal husbandry was also present in the past, only a small part remains, such as poultry farming. The students of the High-School still receive agricultural education and are regularly involved in work at the greenhouses and fields.
The exchange program takes place traditionally on a biennial basis, meaning after a visit by the German youth in 2023, there will be a reciprocal visit in 2024 by the Israeli youth.
